PostNL continues to deliver mail and parcels
Additional measures to continue operations in a healthy and responsible manner
The Hague, 16 March 2020 – The exceptional circumstances we are currently going through call for special attention for our society and social cohesiveness. Delivering mail, parcels and other dispatches to our customers helps maintain this link. Home delivery also enables people to stay home. For their part, companies retain a distribution channel. We are consequently keen to continue our deliveries in a spirit of responsibility and are taking additional measures to continue to provide the universal postal services, as well as the distribution of death notices and shipments of a medical nature.
Herna Verhagen, CEO of PostNL: “We are well aware of our social role and responsibility to all parties concerned. We are sparing no effort to continue to provide the universal postal service and to deliver parcels and other items in a responsible manner. This is made possible by the dedication of our employees in close cooperation with our customers and partners. Safe and healthy working conditions are paramount in this respect.”
No signature on the handheld terminal
PostNL is following the guidelines of the authorities and staying in contact with them to stem the spread of the virus. Additional measures have been taken to minimize direct contact as much as possible. Customers will no longer have to sign for their parcel or registered mail on the mobile terminal until further notice. To confirm receipt, the deliveryman will simply sign the name of the recipient and note down the last three characters of the ID card number. Information on the status of the consignment is for that matter available via the PostNL application and Track & Trace function on the PostNL website.
Extended delivery periods and other measures
We are currently working on extending the daily delivery times and on other measures for our delivery staff. The aim is to make their task easier when they have to take care of young children at home. Teleworking has become the norm for all our staff who can work from home. When that is not possible, other measures are taken to ensure working conditions that are as healthy and safe as possible and to minimize the risks of contamination to the utmost.

We will update the situation on this page if the situation were to change. We will also inform proactively suppliers, customers and partners who may be affected by such changes.
